I have hypoglicemia not in diabetes and so does my mom. Some one told my mom that having to check your blood sugar with a meter would drive you crazy and you will soon be obsessed with checking it. I am getting sick almost constantly and i don’t know if my blood sugar is high or low, and my mom refuses to get me a meter. What should i tell her?
You should tell her that checking her sugar and yours could help keep track of whats going on with your body. You could very well be getting worse and wouldnt know due to lack of sugar checking. I’m sure you have a doctor right? If so let he/she know that you need a diabetic meter because your constantly sick and want to monitor your sugars. Also, once you start checking you wont be obsessed with it, whoever said that was nuts. Wanting to check constantly is something most people wont do, because it hurts your fingers unless you get the machine you can test on your forearm. Also try eating a well balanced diet and exercising, this helps a great deal
Normally if your sugar is high – youll be thirsty, tired, cranky, head aches, neasuea, vommiting, constipated, blurred vision, frequent urinating
Normally if its low – shaking, hungery, thirsty, dizzy, fainting
looking for a weight loss plan for a type 2 diabetic, hope someone out there is willing to share it with me …will be greatly appreciated….
i dont know of a diet plan. but i can tell you whats working for me. i eat more during the day when im active and small meal at dinner along with a snack at bedtime. if im not hungry but i feel my blood sugar dropping i keep pediasure in the house to drink. it has lots of vitamins. low fat cereals and eggs for breakfast. during the day fruits, yogerts, pretzels, lowfat soups, a variety of things. i dont eat a lunch so to say. but i eat a serving of something every couple hours when im at work. south beach cereal bars are good to and you can always keep them on you for those hunger fits or when your low too. 100 calorie packs are good and cure sweet tooths. milk and gram crackers before bed keep my sugar up at night and when i have a snack with a little sugar in it i dont feel do deprived and hungry. 70 calorie packs of jello. im a huge salt finatic so pickles, crab meat, hard boiled eggs with salt, tomatoes, the choices are endless of low calorie things you can eat. i am losing on average 2-3 pounds a week doing this. and to tell you the truth i dont go out of my way to exercise much and my doctor would kill me to admit that lol.
I heard a story about a boy who had diabetes at a young age because of genetic reasons. He had maintained an excellent diet his whole life and was on the wrestling team his freshman year of high school. Just a few weeks into wrestling season he was cured from diabetes and his body began to function as it is suppose to. I don’t know if this is a true story, but could it be possible? Is diabetes curable through diet and excercise?
That is quite a story, but I’ve never heard of this before. I would think if it were true, many people would be exercising alot more! I have had people with diabetes in my classes, and their blood sugar does come down and level out when they exercise on a consistent basis and they feel alot better. Being cured? No.
im 8stone exactly and 15 and the doctors think i have pcos or insulin resistance from blood test but what confussing me is i have read that you get these two if your obese,
is insulin resistance type 2 diabettes?? and do you only get it if your overweight plz it would realy help if i new?
The answer is yes and no. Being overweight can cause these diseases to occur early then they otherwise would have. However, they can still occur if your are a normal healthy weight. In my situation I was eating very healthy and still was overweight–most likely from a thyroid issue–though I had lost an enormous amount of weight in the years preceding my diagnosis. Everyone keeps telling me that when I learn to eat better, my diabetes will improve. What people don’t seem to get is that the foods I am craving most is beans and rice. 8 stone is a very healthy weight for a 15 year old. I am sorry you are going through this, and I understand feeling cheated. The media make a big fuss about weight and poor eating habits being the main culprit for many diseases. The truth is you lucked out as it may be in the gene pool, and that is it.
I am 13 and I have type 1 diabetes.Today I was feeling my feet(b/c I was cold and trying to warm up) , and on the inside of my feet , just above the arch, I noticed i had this numb feeling about the size of 3 to 4 quarters.I am not very good at my diabetes….my BG is usually over 200 b/c i dont test or take shots alot. I know Im terrible.I was wondering if I had nerve damage there or something…HELP….. Im scared!!!!!!!
Sounds like it to me. If I were you, I would take this as a warning to straighten up. Taking care of diabetes is pretty important if you want to keep your body parts.
