I’m a 13(soon 14)year-old girl and have a family history of diabetes.No one told me about that,I just discovered that the injections my grandma takes are insulin really recently,and I’d like to eat healthier,so no “fat-free”stuff that have an extreme amount of sugar to substitute for the flavour…
And I really hate oatmeal so please not that.Thanks in advance!
There is a lot of bad Diabetic history in my family. My grandpa has type 2 Diabetes, but I’m not overly concerned with type 2, because I exercise regularly and aside from family history, I don’t really have any of the “at risk” signs. I’m mainly concerned with type 1. My uncle has it, and my brother was diagnosed with it when he was about a year old. A couple of years later, my sister was diagnosed when she was about 12.
I’m the only “kid” in the family without type 1. Some people say since they have it, I’m bound to get it some day. Other people say that 2/3 children with diabetes is already rare, so 3/3 is almost guaranteed not to happen. How should I look at this?
I know most people with type 1 get it when they are younger (hence the name juvenile Diabetes), but I’m sure older people can get it too. How old was the oldest person you know at the time they were diagnosed?
Thanks! I do test my blood once in a while to make sure it’s normal and every couple of years or so I do an official blood test at the doctor’s just to make sure too… 
I am a type 2 diabetic. My doctor tells me that regardless of what I do as for as medication, diet, exercise, etc that my numbers will continue to get worst.
Are there diabetes treatments that work but are not accepted by the medical community in general? Please site your sources.
i heard if you loose your beta cells in your liver, you’re screwed. So if i change my life around, and save some, i’ll be ok?
I have tried Actos & Avandia in the past (retained water like crazy). I have also tried Metformin (my stomach cannot handle even 500mg). I have been taking only Januvia for a month, but it is not helping to control it enough. I eat a fairly good diabetic diet and walk every day. Should I get stricter still with my diet & exercise even more?
