But one drawback is that some patients would find it hard to keep up the regular sessions needed to sustain the benefit. All the patients said they would like to see these classes set up on a permanent basis but we don’t have the money.
It is not necessarily the exercise component of the yoga therapy package which is most important, because there is not enough physical exercise to account for the changes, but stress reduction has a lot to do with it. I’m 23 years old and type 1 diabetic. Im on insulin, 14 units every morning and 10 units at night. Right now, Im working every weekdays from 8am to 5pm. Im planning to attend an aerobics class and its schedule is every 7-8pm. My question is, should I have my insulin shot before heading to the gym or after? also, should I take my dinner before the exercise or right after? you’re serious answer will be highly appreciated.

I would try dinner, exercise and then insulin because exercise really drains your glucose levels.
I don’t know if you watch sports but Denver Broncos quarterback is a insulin-dependent diabetic and he would get so low during games before he was diagnosed… It was terrible. I would bring something like 1/2 gatorade 1/2 water in case you get low during the work out. Eating before will probably mean you will need less insulin at night, so double check it until you’re sure.
Exercise is great, especially cardio, combined with keeping your glucose levels in check, it’s a great thing to do for yourself. Too many diabetics use their condition as an excuse to skip exercise. Sure, it’s harder and more work, but it’s so good for you and helps fight the negatives of long-term insulin use. Look at all that Jay Cutler (QB) is doing this year! He’s playing great in professional football. If you need a role model, he’s advocating for diabetes now and playing great.
