Hi I have several medical problems;1 is diabetes. I have peripheral neuropathy. Does the pain ever go away?

I know that it is nerve damage and that controlling my diabetes will help, but sometimes I will eat badly for a few days and man do my feet & legs hurt. Can the nerve damage be reversed? I am not on any pain meds now, but soon?? I don’t want any more med’s. I get bad side affects.

The damage is done to a certain extent, with excellent glucose control being critical.

not really – the meds only control the pain – once the damage is done it is hard to reverse it.

The best thing to do is to continue controlling your glucose, exercise, and monitor your feet daily

Nerve damage seems to be irreversible at the present, so there’s none you could do about it, except to follow religiously your diet. Sorry that you have side effects on medicines, but neurontin could probably help you. Ask your doctor.
