I am 5’8″ 18 year old female at 155 lbs. My BMI is 23.6. I would like to lower it to 20 by the time I am 21. This would mean I would weigh approximately 130lbs. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, and I want to eat better and live more actively. So I feel like my goals are time specific, obtainable, and healthy. That comes to about 1 lb a month. I really want to keep it off, have great skin, and still have some curviness. Please if you have any input I would be so grateful. So far all I know is that I need to drink more water, and be more active.

I am 22 years old, about 5’11″, over 350 lbs and there’s a history of diabetes in my family (type II, I believe). I’ve been trying to get into a fitness routine to lose weight and get healthy but I have been finding it hard to get settled into a routine. A few months ago I joined a gym and started doing cardio (elliptical for 50 minutes/4.5 miles each day, plus 100-200 sit-ups at home afterward) and started eating sort of healthy (salads, no fast food) and saw some improve but eventually I lost my focus and quit.
What I need is a good idea of what I need to be doing. When I read about dieting online I get kind of confused and overwhelmed with all the terms and everything. Are there any books or sites that make all of the nutrition information I need easier to understand?
I’ve been going to the gym again recently and want to know what’s the most efficient way I can get into better shape and overall healthy…

I saw some pretty good results by doing cardio and some lifting the last time I had a routine, but I was told if I did too much cardio and not enough lifting it wouldn’t be good. So I need to know what to do in that aspect.
Also, I work nights and sleep during the day. That makes it kind of difficult to manage my time and eating habits. It also makes it difficult for me to find a partner to work out with (I was lifting with my brother for about a month but, aside from him being flaky, we went mostly in the afternoon and that severely cut in to my sleeping patterns).
A good solo work out plan would be ideal for me. I would also like to know what kind of books I can read (or sites, but I find websites to be a little too unreliable with this sort of topic) to help me design a work out plan and a good diet.
My goal is to be in much better shape by this time next year.
I’ve had insulin resistance my whole life, I’m 13. I’ve been trying everything since i was 4 years old. I keep a good diet, healthy, balanced, etc….. but Im looking to lose a good amount of weight. its not normal to be 210 and 5’3″. im on the edge of being obese and i cant stand it. I’ve tried everything from richard simmons tapes, kids exersize tapes, palates, running, walking, etc…. none of it works. I want somthing strict. I dont have a bunch of time on my hands, i have a lot of activities, but I would be willing to try anything. I have wii fit, havent tried it much, its my brothers, i could talk him into letting me use it if you think it would help. Thanks =].

p.s. i am VERY active. dont say the reason i weigh that much is my own fault. I have a long family history of diabetes, so im trying to controll it before i get it. It never hit me when i was younger how much this could affect me. So no rude comments, i just want some help. thanks =]
